IN GENERAL: -Verizon phones no longer allow WiFi mode after Android 7.0. Verizon Samsung phones Galaxy S3/4/5/6/7/Edge, Note 2/3/4/5, Verizon LG phones G2/G3/G4/G5 and Verizon Sony phones Z3 are supported by Android versions 6.1 or below. My Tracfone ZTE Z793C phone stopped working. Verizon HTC phones (M7/8/DNA) will only work on Android 4.1 ~ 4.4. Im wondering if I should replace it with a different phone and need some advice. I have a work situation where I need to get online with a laptop computer in a remote location occasionally and tethering seems to be the best option.

I experimented a little with the ZTE and isntalled PdaNet+ on the phone, plugged the phone into the laptop with a USB. Verizon Motorola phones will only work on Android 4.3 or below.

AT&T Samsung phones will only work on Android 4.2 or below. Other carriers/phones will only work if they still have Android 4.0 or below. Straight Talk phones will only work if it uses Verizon and are compatible with the above. For all other phones, use USB mode or Bluetooth mode instead."ĭoes it actually work? I have a LG V20, Android 8.0, on the old school Verizon unlimited plan. I had to give up the tethering when I got this phone a couple years ago. I think they're full of shit, just trying to sell OP a phone or at least get him to dump his plan.I live just outside of the cyber grid and after dealing with ATT, AOL dial-up and a now defunct VIRGIN mobile broadband device for years,I had to make a change. By switching to Verizon and PDAnet, I had full use of the internet. PDAnet was easy to download, install and worked extremely well. That was until the PDAnet popup claims the free version had expired and secure sites were blocked. We wont be able to refund after 21 days, even if some features in PdaNet or FoxFi stop working due to causes we cant control.

Not only were the sites blocked, and it was indicated I could continue use the free version, the speed of the downloads slowed to the point where my dial-up is as fast or considerably faster in some situations. No where when the 'free' version was dowloaded, was it indicated this was a limited trial version.Īfter installing the full version key, both FoxFi and PdaNet should display 'Full Version Unlocked' at the bottom and should no longer prompt you to purchase. Even Best Buy's Geek squad thought this was odd and had not encountered this situation. The buy in fees are reasonable but purchasing is a matter of principle and am not sure the speeds will pick back up.
